Brian McIntyre Joins CHTV/The Other 31

Cheesehead TV is thrilled to announce that Brian McIntyre of Scout.com will be joining the Cheesehead TV family as our resident daily NFL blogger on our NFL blog "The Other 31".

Corey and I are thrilled to announce that Brian McIntyre, who helps hold down the fort over at NorthwestFootball.net, the Seattle Seahawks portal of Scout.com, will be joining the Cheesehead TV family as our resident daily NFL blogger over on our NFL blog "The Other 31". No, Holly isn't going anywhere. She will still be posting her regular stuff, including her invaluable 'Opposition Research' posts. Basically, when it comes to the NFL, there is now no reason to start or end your day anywhere else on the web.

We hope you'll join us in welcoming Brian to our little (but growing) corner of the Internet.

Welcome welcome! From the looks of his first articles, Brian's going to seriously raise the bar over there.

Since you have like 50,000 articles on the new homepage one of the headings should be for the Other 31. I only checked Holly's stuff when you link to it anyways.

I think that's a good idea. I think it would be beneficial to have a "Other 31" tag or label on the homepage.

So the "NFL Blog" up next to "Home" isn't enough? ;)

I jest - not a bad idea at all.

FYI, I just went looking for the rest of "The Other 31" last week and 'found' it on that second bar (the one I think is post tags only?).

After not seeing much new stuff, I decided that you linked everything, Aaron -- and I'm glad I was wrong! Buncha stuff to read now...

Welcome, Brian 2! Mind if I call you Brian 2?

Goddammit! There's a bunch of article at the other 31!

Sorry, Holly! I'll read them all!

I agree with them, Aaron and Corey. I'm too lazy! You can't work the Other 31 like it's s totally different blog! It'd be nice to get a little screen to show their new posts...

and I just noticed it now, but I do love the division features in the left side of the Other 31 screen. You can choose by team, or by the whole division.

That is one neat feat. Kudos.

I agree. I mentioned this to Corey when "Cheesehead TV 2.0" was first released, but I don't know how important showing 30 articles on the home page is, especially for a blog. I get that it's emulating a newsite format, but (at least for now) there's not enough content, and more importantly, variety, to justify it. Makes sense for an NYTimes because there's hundreds of articles a day. Does there really need to be a separate column for Defense/Offense/etc? Not even JSonline has dedicated sections for those as far as I know. It's good for them to be tagged so you can access them through the links at the top when you want to go back, but in my opinion it doesn't have to take up home page space. But Adding The Other 31 would help fill up some of it. Plus you've now got two super talented writers, show them off ;) !

I also think the Featured Column should take up the full width of the body and then below that it should be divided as it is. Similar to the marquee on many news pages. I did the mockup here. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/NYyankz225/cheeseheadtv.png

But of course it's easy for me to critique without putting in the hard work to actually get it done ;).

Thanks for the warm welcome.

And PackersRS, "Brian2" is fine, or "Mac". Whatever works best for you.

Mac it'll be. It's just that I already call Brian Carriveau "Brian" (out of lazyness and annoyance, not intimacy. But he never complained)...

Oh goodness, please call him Mac. I don't want there to be some sort of hierarchy here. And welcome, Mac. I'm already enjoying the frequent updates.

There is a link to the Other 31 on the home page - however it's buried in the ultra-small type in the 2nd menu bar.

Welcome Mac. Glad Holly isn't going anywhere! (I need female companionship on this blog, which for some odd reason is male dominated :) and I value her analysis).
