Ugh. I am not sure I've ever heard more sanctimonious b.s. from an athlete. I could stomach half a dozen reasons for being upset, but wow, this was just an utter level of self-serving indulgence, I don't think I'll ever look at him the same way again.

I’m a Packer fan and I’m looking forward to the season. I think we’ll be able to move the ball and score points because we’ll have a good line and some good skill position players. I wish Rodgers the best and I appreciate the excellence and stability he brought to the position these last 13 years.

One SuperBowl in 25 years. Time to try something else, like maybe running and defense instead of a great QB slinging it to a myriad of superduper WRs.

The key is when Favre won the SB Packers were the number 1defense to cover his mistakes, when Rodgers won the defense was in the top 10 that's all he needs, to prove the point defense wins championships but Murphy and Gute don't feel that way.

That's an interesting statement seeing that Gute has drafted primarily defense since he took over and all the bitching has been about the lack of weapons for Rodgers.

You mean re-drafting for whiffs on Burks, Jackson, J Jones(his guy) and a very weak attempt to stack the box at DT and five tech.

When Rodgers went to the Super Bowl, the Packers had the #1 defense in the NFC. Same as the previous QB. Bart had a pretty good defense helping him. And none of them were old when they did it.

So here’s a radical idea: Why don’t we try to put a real good defense on the field and see what we can accomplish with a younger, cheaper, lesser QB? As far as I can tell, you need a QB who can protect the ball, avoid sacks, and make accurate throws. If he’s a deceptive guy, that’s even better.

One title in 25 years with great QBs should tell you your model is flawed. We had the top offense in 2011, 2014, and 2020. Our QB played great in 2016. 0 titles. I think it’s time to seriously reconsider the model we’ve known for the last 25 years. There are other ways to win games.

You don’t win super bowls with average or under qbs, It rarely happens.. You need a good defense AND a good/ great qb.. San Fran in 2019 was an awesome team with a good running game and great defense, did they win it, just wondering???

Trent effing Dilfer has a Super Bowl ring and Peyton Manning was fairly awful in his last Super Bowl win; even Brady wasn't great in the NFCCG - his defense really won that game. This all proves your statement incorrect.

Frequently, you don’t win with HOFers either, after they turn 30.

Rodgers, Brees, Roethlisberger. 0 Super Bowl appearances in the last 10 years.

Young QBs. That’s your best shot.

The Packers work within the system created by the owners and the player's union. All the rules are arbitrary. Salary cap, player numbers, practice regiments, etc. They could/can/have been changed. Rogers now wants to go work for one of the teams that passed on him in the draft, one of the teams that has been the chip on his shoulder that has helped to make him a success. The philosophy that got him into GB, planning for the future, is now the reason he wants out . He is a great QB, lets see if he is a great GM. Let him go.

It appears that in lieu of participating in the OTAs – Rodgers has chosen to assume the self-appointed role as spiritual leader for Packers nation. What exactly qualifies him for this position – I don't know – given his history of family and personal relations. However, as many of us expected, his interview with Mayne was an utter boondoggle.

Still, what little I could glean from it – the main cause for his indignation is that he doesn't like a couple of guys in Packers management. Apparently his great love of all things Packers stops right at the feet of Gutekunst and Murphy. Incidentally these are 2 “people” he has known for years, but suddenly and mysteriously, have become the bad guys in all of Packerdom.

It appears that Rodgers is more intent on the public persecution of Gutekunst and Murphy, than anything else. He speaks nebulously about the brick-by-brick building of the Packer community. Yet his actions have been to the contrary.

Frankly, I sense an ulterior motive with Rodgers - things do not seem as they appear with him. To continue to play this game with him is futile and counter-productive. Simply, all the Packers should do is remind him that he has signed contract with them, and, they expect to seem him in training camp - "La Fin". And if he (Rodgers) doesn't want to speak to Gutekunst and Murphy ever again – fine – that is what agents are for.

Hey, my friend, take a load off and don't worry about it. He's gone.

If he's a Bronco, as I suspect for all intents and purposes, he's not needed at our OTAs or anywhere else near the Packers facilities.

I really do think we will be finding out more definitively next week. There might be some other players both sides are looking to include in a larger trade deal than may have originally been agreed to in principle.

But, that dude is gone to Denver. 100%. It is OK to start filling your head with dreams of the players the Packers can acquire. Hell, if you're so inclined, look ahead to the. 2022 mock drafts... that could all of a sudden be a bit more fun than normal.

Thank you for helping to allay my fears that Rodgers might return to the Packers. And I agree, this season would be much more interesting with the addition of a couple of good D players, and, one or two high draft choices. I wonder if Vegas has opened a betting-line as to where Rodgers will play this season? Think I'll look into it.

P.s. I have not dismissed your contention that all of this dust-up is due to his engagement to the fetching Ms. Woodley.

It was clear that Rodgers had no respect for his bosses at Green Bay.

I read elsewhere that Rodgers called Brian Gutekunst "Jerry Krause", Chicago Bulls general manager who traded away the team's best players which resulted in the demise of the Bulls. Rodgers also called Matt LaFleur "LaPoor". It's clear that Rodgers has burned bridges with the Packers bosses.

The Packers have no choice but to move on from Rodgers, who may or may not have a few good years left in him. Go Pack Go!

I hope Gute and Murphy hold firm and don’t give in. Rodgers, as good as he is, is an employee. He doesn’t run the show. They only way I trade him is if we get an offer that blows their socks off.

I kind of think so too, but at some point somebody in this has to be an adult. Everyone on this board, it seems, thinks 12 is selfish child; everybody says they undertand him clearly and don't like it. So it is up to MM and Gute to be men.

I like Holmgren's comment, among other things he came straight to the point: had he been in charge "I wouldn't have allowed it" to come to this.

I grew up with the understanding, putting off pain is worse then actually facing the pain and getting it over with. With that said, I would hope the FO would just trade the guy now, get some quality picks and say, its time to rebuild, get some talent including a new QB and move on.
Hey in a couple years he can walk away and you get nothing in return and by staying is he really taking you to the SB? I think that ship sailed.

Time to suck it up and say adios, the fans will understand after hearing this crybaby moan for three months now, no one wants to hear that crap anymore

Rodgers the victim is a tad hard to swallow. He’s the richest man in the organization as a result of their relationship. If you are emotively drawn to championing the worker, I suggest that Rodgers is perhaps neither the optimal person nor personality.

Da, comrade Packerpasty.

Actually, I agree with you. Reason #1 people leave jobs is a bad boss yet all we read here is how 12 is a spoiled kid.

Without any doubt, 12 carries his share of the blame, but it's never all on one side.

Reading these comments is very enlightening. I’ve learned that star QBs are entitled divas. Gee, what a revelation. Next thing you’ll be tellingme is that rock stars are spoiled prima donnas. And I’ve learned that AR is just an employee and should be treated as such. Yup, just another employee like that paper hat guy working at the local Dunkin D’s. Tell him to shut up and make the donuts. Got it. Of course, the donut guy isn’t worth $250 mil and gets National TV exposure whenever he wants it. But no matter, just an irrelevant detail.

Aaron Rogers has problems with his family. And now he has having problems with Gutey.. I dont understand, this years crop of draftees. Are probably the best group in years.. but going by what Arod, and other so called sport journalist. Have been stating. You would think. Even with Rogers back again for another season, the packers are going to be lucky enough to win their division.. Just like the last two years before.. Predictions were not 13-3, more like 7-9..... Ok lets just say.. AROD sits out the year, loses millions of Packer fans generated cash. And the Packers uses a replacement quarter back. And they go all the way to the super bowl, and win.. How is ARod gonna feel? I could see him breaking his engagement. And realize he was a green bay packer quarter back, not a game show host..

The last two years the packers were 13-3.. They got beat by the Bucs last year. Not because of Tom Terrific, but because the Bucs TEAM was better enough to beat them twice. Suh always seemed to have the packers twisted up in knots... I dont see the connection of professional athletics and lotteries.

Let me summarize what Rodgers put out there last night:

"It hurt my feelings that the Packers let Jordy Nelson walk. I felt embarrassed after the Packers cut Jake Kumerow after I told the media he was a lock to make the roster. Mostly, how dare they plan for the future by aggressively drafting a QB in the first round without telling me first- even though, that really wouldn't have changed anything. I never forget a sleight- real or perceived- no matter how large or small. I am taking revenge on Brian Gutekunst and Mark Murphy. I am placing my need for vengeance above and beyond my supposed love for the fans and my team mates. My bruised ego will not allow another course of action/"

I'll say this again. Year in, year out, there's a chorus of ex-Packers who have come and gone through the locker rooms of 1225, and a good percentage of them look back at their time with the Packers as career highlights, or at least, they tend to hold the Packers organization as tops compared to other stops in their career. Very few of those ex-Packers were able to control the circumstances of their exit from the team. They were cut, allowed to test free agency and not extended an offer, rarely traded away, etc and so forth. And most of them get past it and reflect on what a class organization they had a chance to play for. They understand it's a business.

But, hey.. We're supposed to believe this is a "culture problem". Okay. Sure. Rodgers, be a man, call a spade a spade in public and stand on the principal you're really projecting: "I won't play for the Packers unless they fire the bad men who hurt my feelings."

I like your take on AR's comments, but think you missed one thing: AR is a West Coast guy who's going to be married to a West Coast Gal. I highly doubt that he ever fit in to the Green Bay scene (such as it is) and I also think it likely that he's never much liked being in Green Bay or anywhere else in Wisconsin. I'm hypothesizing that Ms. Woodley has been to Wisconsin and probably to Green Bay and thinks very poorly of it.

Think about it - how would YOU compare LA to GB? If you were used to LA and California, might you not think that GB and Wisconsin are full of ridiculous hicks? Hell, I'm a Wisconsin native and I hated living in NE Wisconsin.

AR wants to be much closer to the Coast, and LV and Denver offer that opportunity, with Denver currently offering the best chance (he thinks) for getting to the Super Bowl. Easiest way to get traded is to talk shit about your bosses and the team.

So ARod is pussy whipped? That's even even worse., I thought he wanted to finish his career in Green Bay? He sure looked like a happy man last year. My guess is he wants a real commitment from the Packers, not a 4 year contract they can end after 2. Then again, he hasn't called me so it's all speculation.

No, I wouldn't call it pussy-whipped. More like he was okay with GB and WI as a single man (and Danica was from Chicago, so not a bad trade from LA), but with a fiancee in LA, living in GB requires quite a long-distance marriage. Couple this with his (mis-guided) perception that the team will never win an SB with the current FO and it makes some sense for him to want out. He's locked into his contract, so his only out is a trade.

This is pure speculation, of course, but it is interesting that AR never voiced any explicit problems with management until his engagement.

Or could it be Arod is afraid of Super Bowl success? I mean he has a tremendous array of offensive weapons..(including A. Rogers-both of them)If Bathkiari heals and gets back to starting. along with the other linemen. it will be once again one of the best.. they will be protecting who ever is the games starter. The defense will be improved. no doubt. And hopefully the special team will finally get it's act together. The more you think about it.. the more ridiculous the future hall of famer is.

Gute liked Drew Lock the year before. It was absolutely no secret Gute was kicking tires on young QBs and if one he liked was available he was going to take one fairly high. This was no secret to anyone paying attention. Rodgers, fair or not, was seen as a declining player after 2018 and despite going to the NFCCG after the 2019 season Rodgers wasn’t super impressive most of the year. Not to the point you’d think he had an MVP in his future. Gute was trying to upgrade his backup and give him a viable young arm for the future. If Rodgers was taken by surprise by this then he’s not as smart as some of you give him credit for. I hold firm that Rodgers wants a change of scenery and this is his out so he doesn’t alienate himself from the fans. He wants to play closer to home and his sudden interest in Denver when his future wife lives in Boulder isn’t a coincidence or a conspiracy theory. He’s gonna play the victim so he can go play closer to Cali while still being able to sell crap to Packer fans after he retires. That….or this is more scripted soap opera BS
