The Packers reached injury settlements with Quinten Rollins and Devonte Mays according to a report by Rob Demovsky.  Green Bay paid $55,609 in the settlement to Rollins, approximately two weeks of pay, and absorbed his signing bonus of $245,046.  The dead money charge associated with releasing Rollins totals $301,075, and should result in an increase in cap space of $644,276. 

The Packer paid Mays $22,235, approximately one week of pay, and absorbed his prorated signing bonus of $18,759.  Green Bay will take a dead money charge of $40,077 for 2018.   Green Bay will have a dead money charge for the remaining prorated signing bonuses for 2019 and 2020 of $37,522 charged to its 2019 salary cap.  It looks to me like Green Bay should have increased its salary cap space by $532,765 in 2018 by releasing Mays. 

The settlements with Rollins and Mays should result in an increase of $1,177,041 in salary cap space for Green Bay.  It appears that Mays and Rollins both had split contracts that resulted in lowering their base salaries to $378,000.  Sportrac increased its salary cap space estimate by $615,000 to $3.595 million.  Overthecap's estimate barely budged.  It is not clear to me whether those sites have fully updated their calculations. 

Both Rollins and Mays immediately become free agents able to sign with any NFL team except Green Bay.  The Packers could re-sign Mays in four weeks and Rollins in five weeks if the front office has interest. 

Teams have five days to reach an injury settlement with players waived injured.  So far, there has been no indication that the Packers were able to reach a settlement with Kyle Murphy.
