My guess is the Packers get two R1s. What makes the Jets think they can just walk away -with- Aaron Rodgers? Plus... have GB pay to to trade him??? The Jets are nuts if they think they can get Rodgers for a R1 next year, which equates to an R2 this year in points. That's nothing.

The Packers don't have to trade him. "Sorry, NYJ, if your situation is perfect and all... but..."

It will be two R1s.

If GB is really done with #12, then they want to get rid of him this year to cut the hit on the cap next year. The Jets know this, so unless there is another team that emerges, they kind of have to go with what the Jets have to offer.

How do the Jets know there aren't multiple teams offering to trade?

If the Jets make the best offer, and that offer is a 7th round pick, then the Packers can accept it or not. If it's the only offer, and the team doesn't accept it, then Rodgers is still on the team.

This is the problem with only having one suitor. This is the problem with structuring his money the way we did. At the end of the day, if we don't trade him, then what? Just cut him? No draft picks, accelerated cap hits....

No. The Packers would be fortunate to get a 1st round pick in 2024 if the Jets are the only bidders. We'll take the best offer. If that best offer is a 7th round pick and a box of used jocks, then that's what we'll trade him for.

However, when that one suitor has an owner that pretty much said he wants Rodgers in the worst way, when his team hasn’t won the SB since 1969, they hired an OC that is a Rodgers guy, and they may be only a QB away, and a report that the Packers may be willing to eat some more contract for draft compensation? Well, I’d say the Packers have a bit more leverage.

Moo...what are the Packers going to do? They can accept the offer or decline the trade.....which means he's still on the team. Nobody is buying that. They'll take what they can get and be thankful for it. I'm hoping we get their late first round pick next year.

Sincere belief:

I think Woody and the Jets would love to have Rodgers. Not only is he better than anybody they have, he's better than anybody they've had in 50 years. And they saw what Brady did in Tampa, and it's a blueprint for them. They think they can win the division and make the playoffs with Rodgers.

But these are the Jets, so they'll bet on Rodgers, who'll get hurt early or something, and it'll fail. Because it always fails for organizations like that, which is why they don't win. These guys are the Lions of the East.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

At some point, the Packers are going to put a team on the field, and it's going to look a lot like this

Love and his backup. Dillon and Jones
. Watson, Doubs, Toure, Melton Tonyan, Deguara,. Bakhtiari, Jenkins, Nijman, Runyan, Myers, Tom,. We should add a TE and WR early in the draft, and a OL in the Top 100. Right now, we have 3 picks in the top 78. I don't think we'll get compensation in this draft for Rodgers, so unless we trade down, we've got our own picks in the first three rounds.

The other thing that should be realized is that these GM’s, coaches, and FO people are peers and equals in the sport. They are not going to completely try to screw over each other or other teams won’t deal with them anymore when the time comes they may need to, or may be not hire them in the future if there is some feeling of unfair dealing. Don’t burn bridges. I have college level coaches in my family. They are a tight knit group. There is competition among them, but not all want to screw the other to get ahead. It may end up hurting their career more than helping it.

My gut feeling is Woody is not going to low ball this deal with a chance of getting it nixed. Saleh is not going to try and low ball his friend LaFleur. Too much riding on this negotiation. I’d bet the Packers and Jets have already worked out much of the compensation and once that was done, gave Rodgers the ok to talk with them.

The Dolphins are the latest team reported to have an interest. The whole narrative of the Packers not having suitors is crazy.

Oh I agree unless they eat his salary? At least a one and a two next year? I dont see a slew of 1's because of his age.

His age means nothing. He was the MVP 2 and 3 years ago. The only reasons he had a subpar year stat wise for him was the thumb and no Devonte. Although if he had shown interest in working with the new WRs it could have made a difference record wise. The injuries are usually the difference between a good and bad season.

I want to know the odds, (I know this is frowned upon) so I'll say it this way: qualitatively, what would be wrong to have an agreement in place where this officially happens after June 1st which will be the most pleasant toward the cap hit.

Only a cut can take place before June 1and yet be designated as a post June 1 transaction. I believe that is intended to give the player a better chance of finding a new team.

That seems to be an unanswered very important question. Does anyone really know what the rule on this possible June 1 trade is. Otherwise how would we be able to for instance trade back with the 13th pick and more importantly save a crapload of $$.

Oh how I hope this happens. The only downside is I live in New York and will have to hear about Rodgers everyday no matter what happens. Time to turn the page and start life without the smartest guy in the room. That's what he thinks anyway.

I may be eating crow for dinner for quite a while. I got diva boy staying home and wanting to play one last season here in GB. I even joked that Rodgers thinks he is talking with the jets but he is still in his bat cave in the dark doing his silly juice and trying to figure out where the door is? LOL
At least its interesting right now.
i do think the Jets will want some closure, move on and move out. They dont have time to play games and you cant blame them.

I know all of us are really tired with this "should I stay, shoud I go" attitude of ACR.

If this situation solve as many here, and myself, hopes, I will be thankful for (at least) the debriefing the fog of the situation in the franchize I'm fan of. And I will wish the best for Aaron Rodgers in his new stop.

Also, despite all those toxic that was produced by the whole situation, I would love to see Packers sign back ACR for one day after he'll make decision to retire from football and to make him Packers HOFer with retirement of No 12. After all he brought a lot of joy to fans and community in the past.

Playing in the AFC will not be easy - Mahomes, Burrow, Allen, Herbert, Jackson, Tua and who knows who else will be another top QB in that conference. So I wish ACR the best.

My guess at the compensation is a second this year and a first next year (I don't think the Jets are willing to give up their first this year). That's a best case scenario, given the nasty (future) cap cost transferred to the Jets.

@greengold. I believe the possiblilty of getting two firsts has gone away, once he wasn't traded prior to the 2022 season.

The worst I would still accept is a 2nd this year and up to a 2nd next year (depending on his play).

The Packers could accept even less than that and eventually still come out ahead, but the Jets are getting AR, not some ok player.

Although I've said it before, this has nothing to do with me being "tired of AR", or due to any dislike...........it's a business decision that allows the Packers to get his contract off the books, start to get their cap back in order, while beginning the recovery from the bad deal they made with him in 2022.

Stay, go, two R1s or any other combination, doesn’t matter. We still have Matt LaFluer and Joe Barry. Doesn’t look promising.

This is a test for Gute. The Packers MUST get at least a #1 pick and a future pick or two. Anyone living in NY knows the Jets fan is on the verge of delirium. Just listen to the radio. Aaron Rodgers talk 24/7. If they don’t land Rodgers WHO is their QB? The think they are on the verge of a SB. I don’t think so given the AFC landscape but they do. They will be gambling everything in a soon to be 40 year old. This can’t just be a giveaway. If it is Gute should be fired and ai have been a supporter of his. Gute needs to read the temperature in this room and exploit it.

Picks and good, young cheap players is what we will get, eventually. Getting some combo of WR, TE, S and picks would be a really good return. There would be nothing wrong with multiple 2nd and 3rd round picks and players if it came to that. Alot of really good players can be had in the middle rounds and we can fill needs. If I were working this deal for Green Bay I would offer to trade Bahktiari to the Jets also. Number one it would lock Rodgers into the deal. He wouldn't change his mind with a buddy coming to New York with him. Number two the Jets need a starting OT so they would like that. Another big chunk of $$ off the salary cap. It probably gets us an extra 2nd rounder and another player back. I would ask for their 2020 1st rounder, Mecki Becton. They have been talking about moving on from him recently and needing another OT. He is still young and has bigtime upside. Maybe a change of scenery for him and we got our new starting OT.

The third round seems to be Gutekunst's kryptonite, so lets just go for second and fourth round picks :) unless Gute can trade the third rounders. :)

Wow maybe some sports writers read this site. I have been saying for days the Packers should trade Bahktiari along with Rodgers. The Jets need a starting OT and that is a great chance to move Bahk and his large contract. I think it also means Aaron wouldn't nix the deal if his buddy is there too. That also gets us another pick and I would ask for some combo of Mecki Becton-OT(former 2020 1st round pick who the Jets have talked about trading) and Mims, Moore or Ruckert. If we play our cards right and get lucky we could shed salary, gain extra picks(at least 3) and pick up players at positions of need. The Jets in the last year have talked about trading Mecki Becton-OT, receivers Denzel Mims and Elijah Moore. I chose Jeremy Ruckert because we need tight ends. He was drafted last year in 3rd round. I think we could get all 4 if we asked and none are on big contracts. Get it done.
