If you compare the Packers squad to what we had last year at this point.

1) We're more experienced at Safety. We've improved the talent in the CB room. We've swapped Walker for Franklin. We've added Parsons. We've added Hargreaves. We've lost Gary and Enagbare. There's no reason for us to be worse on defense this year unless Gary and Enagbare were a lot better than people thought.

2) Offensively, this is a veteran group. Love, Watson, Reed, Kraft, Jacobs have all practiced and played together for at least two years. The offensive line is not as deep as it was at this point last year but it's a mostly veteran line. There will not be any rookies starting on offense this year unless somebody gets hurt. Morgan in his third year, Banks, Rhyan, and Tom all in their 5th year.

I'm also a big fan of the Lindy's pre-season magazine, AND their pre-draft magazine.
They aren't always right, but they seem to be just as right as any other prognosticating media. I like the format of their magazines, and I like the "early look at next year's draft" in the pre-season issue. I always like to look back at those comments after the draft, because it's so interesting to see how much those nine months matter in people's rankings.

The pressure is on MLF to prove he is a coach that is capable of taking a team to the playoffs, get hot, and get to and win the SB. Because at this point, he has always chosen the path of backing off and becoming more conservative in his play calling when the Packers get a decent lead. What was "all gas, no brakes" suddenly becomes running the ball on the first two plays, then letting Love finally get a chance to try to save the day on third down. And I get the strong feeling that his instructions include "be very careful with the football."
Right now, it seems that MLF is a very good OC who was promoted to a position where he is not totally qualified (I'll get to his won-lost record soon). His thinking needs to change, and he needs to keep doing what worked, and if the other team adjusts to change things, then have a backup plan ready. And either get a real OC and have Stenavich do what he does best, which is develop OL men.
And anyone who wants to point out his shining won-lost record the first few years, say thank you to Rodgers and Adams, in particular. As far as I'm concerned, no SB this year, or at least a very deep playoff run, and time to find a new coach.

As a kid growing up in the early 70s I loved magazine season and couldn’t wait to see them on the shelves . Street and Smiths College would always come out before the Pro issue . Loved them both . I used to write to Chuck Lane and get a free Packers media guide every year and that replaced my Street and Smiths addiction . Very fond memories .

It's difficult to make predictions for the 2026 Packers. We don't know how effective Gannon will be as the Packers DC or how long it will the defensive players to become comfortable playing in a new defense, again. Plus the defense will be missing for at least 6 games and possibly as many as 8. Early in the season we may hear a lot about miscommunication and/or missed assignments on the defense.

As for MLF he is entering his 8 th season as the Packers HC and he is still making the same mistakes he made when he was a 1st year HC. In fact he consistently loses games to first year HCs. Bears HC Ben Johnson being the latest example. MLF should be schooling them but instead it's the other way around. I don't have high expectations for MLF to improve this season but I'm hoping for the best.

As for Jordan Love this is the season where he needs to evolve into a difference maker for the Packers. He needs to tilt the field in the Packers favor as Favre and Rodgers did. If the OL remains healthy and plays well there should be no excuse for Love failing to improve his level of play. He has a strong receiving corps and a solid running game with Jacobs healthy. For Love, "It is time."

Hopefully our rookie kicker does not cost us games. Beyond this let's see how the Packers come through TC and pre-season before expectations are set for the 2026 season. Thanks, Since '61

For the Packers - I have condensed a successful SB run to 2 main factors:

1) a lower injury (impact) season.
2) a higher game day acumen from the HC.

Also I have more faith in Love producing under pressure - than LaFleur.

Like others I'm on the fence with this team. Pass rush will be suspect. Run game so so. To me you've seen the best of Love and he is avg imo. Other NFC teams have really improved this year, namely Dallas. Lions vikes who knows, bears have talent but they are expecting the QB to step up.
I would not be shocked if this is an 8-9 team. Just a lot of unanswered questions for me. Won't miss Gary

The Flower is barely above .500 in the last four years; despite what Mr. Policy thinks, that is not good enough. As a poster above noted, he is making the same mistakes year after year. He has not improved and deserves to be on a very, very short leash.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a 8-9 season. Just don't see the Packers controlling the LOS on either side of the ball. And still no accountability.
