Broncos 34 Packers 26 Game Balls & Lame Calls

Green Bay suffers a devastating loss in Denver, in more ways than one.

There are a certain kind of losses that feel earth shattering for an entire organization. The Packers have felt a number of those in the last decade. There is, of course, the 2014 NFC championship game in Seattle. In 2015, they were completely overwhelmed by the eventual Super Bowl champions, also in Denver. 2021 saw the team lose Aaron Rodger's final playoff game to San Francisco, in a game that felt immediately like the end of an era.

This felt like one of those losses.

As Matt LaFleur told the team, "no one is going to feel sorry for us." The team will need to pull itself together in a major way to punch a playoff berth.

Game Balls

Josh Jacobs

Jacobs continues to put together a fantastic December campaign. He had a thundering 40 yard run for a touchdown, making 73 on the day. Plus, you know, one of the most impressive catches by a RB that I can personally remember.

The Receivers

I thought this was a really impressive, rounded out performance by the entire receiving crew. The ball was spread out nicely, with five different targets getting 3+ catches and Matthew Golden, Jayden Reed, and Luke Musgrave all coming up with over 50 yards total. They made a number of tough catches too, against this really really good Denver secondary. With Christian Watson leaving the lineup again, they'll need another performance like this in Chicago.

Lame Calls

The Cornerbacks

I don't think it's hyperbole to say that the pair of Keisean Nixon and Carrington Valentine looked borderline unplayable tonight. Bo Nix threw for 302 yards and four touchdowns, on the way to having one of the best nights of his entire career on Sunday, and it was largely predicated on the abuse of these two by the Broncos' scheme. All night long, Denver was able to keep their receivers one step ahead of the cornerbacks. This was made all the more devastating because for the most part, Denver's receiving corps has been a one man crew in Courtland Sutton. He still led Denver in yards, but Troy Franklin and Lil'Jordan Humphrey were also able to put their stamp on this game.

The Defensive Line*

That asterisk is in there for the sole purpose of excluding Micah Parsons from this conversation. Because other than him, it really didn't seem like anyone else showed up to play. Eighteen pressures, one QB hit, and zero sacks. Yes, the Broncos have one of the best offensive lines in the NFL. Guess what? For a team with the aspirations that the Packers have, you're going to have to beat really good offensive lines for four straight games. Outside of Micah, no one could get it done. And now, the Packers are going to have to figure out how to do it at all.

The Offensive Line

Let's just go ahead and say the inverse is true of the offensive line in this game. I probably could have just awarded a Lame Call to "The Trenches" and be done with it. The offensive line got pushed around all game long. Jordan Love attempted 40 passes in this game and was pressured on 31 of them. Seven of those were unblocked pressures. Add onto that three sacks and 19 hurries. An absolute manhandling of the Packers by the Broncos' defensive line, and I do not blame Jordan for a subpar performance tonight, because of it. It's disappointing to see this again from an OL that was looking like it was getting back on track, but they'll have to figure out how to lick their wounds, and quickly. I've also been opposed to starting a rotation with Jordan Morgan and Rasheed Walker at left tackle, especially this late in the season, but Walker's play might be leaving the team with no choice.

Three and Out

-- Today's Phrase of the Game: "Nightmare". It's hard to put into different terms than that. In the span of a mew minutes, the Packers went from being up nine points in the third, forcing a quick three and out from the Broncos offense, to losing  Christian Watson and Micah Parsons to injuries. It was the kind of unraveling that is, well, a nightmare.

I was in the stadium, and I can report that the Packers crowd (which was well represented) went from a rowdy bunch who were raining their fair share of Go Pack Go chants down onto the field, to as increasingly devastated as you probably felt at home. That same energy seemed to have been mirrored by the players on the field too.

-- Injuries: Where to start?

  • Josh Whyle left the game early, and was evaluated for a concussion.
  • Zach Tom suffered a knee injury in the second quarter, on the Josh Jacobs touchdown catch. In his post game presser, Matt LaFleur seemed to indicate that he had avoided a long term injury, and we'll have to wait until tomorrow to find out his injuries exact nature and duration. Ditto for Evan Williams, who was in the middle of a breakout season at safety, but will miss a few weeks, also with a knee injury.
  • Christian Watson was injured on a third quarter bomb that wound up intercepted. When I saw the injury live, my first thought was that Watson had suffered a collarbone injury upon landing, similar to Jayden Reed's broken collarbone earlier this season. Watson was taken to a local hospital for what was actually a chest injury, and he flew back to Green Bay with the rest of the team last night. His father offered a sliver of hope to Packers fans on Twitter last night, declaring "#9 is fine!"
  • All of that pales in comparison however, to what appears to be a torn ACL for Micah Parsons. If confirmed on Monday (you might already know by the time you are reading this), it's not hard to come to the conclusion that the Packers' Super Bowl aspirations are likely done. I'm not here to argue with that assessment, only to remind you that there are still games to be played to get Green Bay into the playoffs. Once you get there, it's one game at a time. That being said, it's okay to feel the doom and gloom of what might be one of the most devastating injuries in Packers history.

-- Next up for the Packers is a short week before heading to Chicago to take on the Bears, who once again lead the NFC North. Pulling themselves together after the rash of injuries they sustained in Denver won't be easy. It might not even be possible in six short days, if I'm being frank. Nevertheless, the Packers have their backs against the wall when it comes to making the playoffs, and there's no time for the team to feel sorry for themselves. They'll need one or two wins to buy themselves a place in the tournament, and it might as well start in Chicago, where the Packers have a chance to complete their second sweep of an NFC North rival.

I figure I'll have all the disappointment, frustration, and bitterness about yesterday's game outcome out of my system by about Wednesday.

Or maybe June.

It gets a little easier every year. Due in part to the overwhelming disappointment in blowing back to back #1 seeds in 2020 and 2021. In all honesty, I have never seen a coach ( Matt LeFleur) that gets such kid gloves treatment from the media.
We will see how the last three games shake out, but they quit after Watson’s injury ( on an under thrown ball). That lost the game. Parsons injury probably lost the season.

The loss was disappointing. The collapse of coaching a depressing insight into why they aren’t winners. The loss of players could very well still be critical next season. This season it’s time to throw caution out of the window.

Throw out Cox as a major contributor and see if he can replicate last year. Throw out Neyor (since Williams isn’t healthy) and ask him to try to be a physical MVS at least. Musgrave needs to be a pure downfield threat now. Throw in Hopper at ILB for his speed and coverage.

I’ve got nothing at RT because of how we handled the position through this year. Kinnard is a G being thrown in at T and also our 6th OL/TE, in which role he could well have helped somewhat. We’ve backed ourself into a corner at RT through our own stubbornness. Perhaps Lecitus Smith can help as a fill in 6th OL. He’s played that before.

Dare to overcome by being aggressive and give players a chance to surprise. Does LaFleur have it in him or will we try to muddle through with safe options and fail? Nothing to lose now. McCarthy stood up when that happened. Can LaFleur, and after yesterday, Hafley?

Not so sure. Policy has been in the organization for quite some time. We don’t really know what his relationship is with MLF, who now has injuries as a convenient excuse: “We were in first place, and then the injuries hit.”

MLF should have been gone years ago. He’s more cheerleader than coach, a poor game manager, and far too often clearly outcoached by whoever is on the other sideline. Yesterday was a textbook example.

Rodgers and Davante carried him to a few winning seasons, but no title. Parsons bailed him out this year, but now what? He has never been able to field a complete team: bad defenses, horrible special teams. Six years in, he’s the same coach he was on day one: unqualified and in over his head.

Rodgers was not considered "elite" his 3rd year starting either. No one saw the Packers running the table in the regular season and playoffs to win 6 in a row to take the Lombardi.

Nor was Favre was considered "elite" in his 3rd year...his 3rd year in a row of leading the team to 9-7 records.

Love is on a great trajectory.

Favre was only elite in his ability to play with injuries unless you consider being the most prolific interception producer in NFL history elite. He would have exactly zero Super Bowls without Holmgren and a great defense.

The point of the game is not to throw the fewest interceptions, it’s to score more points. To do that, sometimes it’s better to chuck it up and hope your guy will come down with it. Caution isn’t necessarily the path to victory.

I agree. Love is good. That being said, he is not immune to criticism. He underthrew Watson at a moment that a great QB would have laid it out perfectly. He didn't, and Watson went down hard trying to make the play. He had Surtain beat. Full disclosure, I hated the play call. Lafleur did not need to press at that moment. We had the momentum.

Back to Love. Yes, he had some dropped passes, but there were several passes that the receivers made great plays (Musgrave for example) that saved his ass. We don't know yet whether Love is the next Packers HOF QB. This will be his opportunity to proves he is.

No team had more injuries going into the playoffs than the last Super Bowl winning Packers team. Unfortunately, Gary has no motor, so "It is Time" means nothing.

You can't evaluate any QB based on trying to throw to such varying targets. Give him #0 9 & 11 on the field at the same time long enough to get used to their speed and see him hitting them in stride at top speed. Bo Melton is the second fastest among that bunch. You don't actually need 17 different WRs in the same game.

The game plan should have included not taking deep shots into tight windows. This was foreseeable by just about everybody except MLF.

Sure, the kid's been injured a lot, and fans are going to bitch and whine, especially on receivers, see "Davonte Adams" second season for proof.
I think he's seeing Fan disappointment as hate when fans yell "Bust", and LVN can likely confirm that it happens, Rashon Gary maybe too.
Chill out, Dad, he's gotta' earn his stripes like everyone else, and I for one think he's well on his way!

I know you're supposed to say, "next man up". Do we have to change that to "next bus in line"?

If the O-line doesn't get up to speed the D will be the least of our worries. Notice how the D's just fine while the offense is operating on all cylinders? They have to step up and help the D out from now on.

TE snaps were down and there were fewer heavy sets (Kinnard ended up playing RT). It seems like you'd want to have more than one guy who can be the 6th OL in a heavy set if it's going to be a significant part of the offense. I hit on the heavy sets because they could've been used to help wear on the Denver defense.

I agree about the OL, but they did just go up against arguably the best pass rush in the NFL and might break the all time sack record. Also, playing against a raucous crowd in high altitude, I give them a break! The D is annother story. Are you talking about the D that gave up 34 points and allowed an average NFL QB and offense to throw 4 TD’s? They didn’t play good in this game. I’m not going to overreact and think this D can’t overcome this game.

Without Parsons and not blitzing it won’t scare anyone. The long shot is Cox perhaps. Nixon was again completely exposed against a team that has time and can throw deeper passes where he has to turn his back on the QB. Honestly, I’d have tried Melton out there later in the hope that he could at least stay with his man once it wax obvious they had time and the confidence to throw. Kinnard is not a RT. Particularly so when he’s not got Kraft to help him. Fitzpatrick, Musgrave and Whyle aren’t capable of inline blocking. As the injuries pile up, so these failings are further exposed. The handling of OL personnel this year is a particularly egregious self-inflicted wound.

No team goes very far without a solid cohesive OL unit...and even shorter distances with a poor DL.

Run defense was OK yesterday. And partially due to Payton believing "why run?" as Nix was having his way on all Packer DBs except X.

Again dropped passes ruined the day...again the defense "dropped the ball". The DBs dropped or missed several game changers. This is glaring and alarming.

“Control the clock”. What happened to all gas and no brakes? This team still has one of the best QB’s and many weapons and can score a lot of points in any game. Unlike some on this site, I’m having a hard time believing that Micah was our whole defense and now we have to play differently because of it. We had a very good D last year and mostly with the same players. Just need players to step up and play good ball.

Parsons elevated a bunch of underachieving d-linemen into a line that had a chance to get to the Super Bowl. The D, last year, against playoff teams? If your defense is only good against bad teams, what does that tell you? The Packers will not win another game this season. Hafley won't coach a substandard d-line and cornerbacks to another win with his zone defense.
Love can play at an elite level sometimes, but he doesn't play at an elite level consistently. If his play at Denver is any indication, he's not going to produce any wins the rest of the way.
Hopefully, da Bears, Lions and Seahawks give us a little help to get in the playoffs because this team isn't going to do it on their own.

Ever.
He coaches as if it's Madden 2007.
As an example, I think we were up 13 and just got the ball back, in the 2nd half, when we threw the intercepted bomb to CW.
What in the holy _ _ _ k was the plan?
My wife called out "why are we doing that?"
2 1st downs, maybe a field goal, 5 minutes off the clock and Denvers running game is off the call sheet.

We lost a tough game on the road to the team with the best record in the league, so obviously our coach stinks and so do most of our players.

Sheeesh.

Here's the story: We beat Chicago next week, and we're in first place with two games to go.

Here's the problem: Jenkins, Kraft, Watson,Wyatt, Tom and Parsons are six of our preferred 22 starters. That's 27% of our starters. I know some of you think that we should still be able to beat good teams, on the road, when we're missing that big of a chunk of our team, but I think that's unrealistic. Put those 6 guys in uniform and we're competitive with anybody, but without them, we're just a good, but not great, team.

IMO, we've just burned a year off the Window. We'll reload for next season and hope for some better luck.

The team is in surprisingly good salary cap shape all things considered, if you trust outlets like OverTheCap and Spotrac. I guess the problem is that most of that room is going to get eaten up by the nearly guaranteed extensions that Kraft, Wyatt, and Reed will be getting soon.

Love, Jacobs, Watson, Reed, Wicks, Golden, Tom, Jenkins, Banks, Belton, Kraft, Musgrave. Wyatt, Brooks, Wooden, Gary, Parsons, Cooper, McDuffie, Valentine, Nixon, McKinney, Bullard, and Williams.

We have a good team returning next year, but we're going to need some better luck with injuries.

That’s a decent core, though Jenkins won’t be back. There’s good chance no Parsons till mid year if the rumors are true. It is not however a winning team without major additions.

The CB room and The DL need a lot of help. Wyatt is the only IDL with a claim to be a starter that holds water. We won’t play big men and the others don’t get pressure. Parsons aside our DEs have been a non factor in the pass game except for Gary at the start of the year. There is no sign of a breakout coming. Parsons was the rush.

We have no first round pick and little cap to spare and some hard realities at CB, OL and DL. That’s a vote that will ensure we aren’t awful, but that’s about it absent a number of breakouts from the young depth or PS. Just rehash and our Window closes at not bad, but not contenders.

To come out ahead we have to now trust youth to get meaningful snaps and play all out and see if they rise up this year, but at least help them be better next and hope for internal growth to fill holes. Reliable is by of no value now, we need to dare to find talent that can make a difference. Only that way will we give ourselves the edge on O and D we will need and go someway to replacing key losses.

Sadly I have zero confidence LaFleur will dare to beat the odds. He visibly collapsed in the second half yesterday. He’s just not a back to the wall type. Nor is he the guy who can convince rookies to play out of their skins by selling a vision of competence rather than just going safe and hoping others fail not us.

The first round pick for the next two years is 26 years old and already on the team and under contract.

If you watched games, you saw just what Parson's means to the Defense. I believe Parsons is better than the combined talent of 2 first round college prospects the Packers might have drafted in '26 and '27.

Recent history: Would you trade Parsons for Golden & Morgan...Morgan & Van Ness...Van Ness & Wyatt...Wyatt & Stokes? Absolutely!

And the Packers Second rounders over that time are not not much of a step down either. Belton, Cooper, Bullard, Musgrave, Reed, & Watson are starters. They are more productive currently than Golden, Morgan, Van Ness, Wyatt and Stokes.

Frankly, Parsons himself has out performed all of the last 5 first rounders combined this season.

The good part of that is that all those HC jobs people are worrying Hafley could get will likely be offered to Robert Saleh instead, our 'D' did not look good yesterday, especially in the backfield.
As for that window you're talking about, Love and Parsons' salaries, along with our list of Free Agents and lack of draft capital have made the glass in that window a bit more obscured.

Another 2nd half collapse by the Defense. Except this week the Offense decided to follow suit.

Denver took over the game after the INT to Watson and the Defense seemed to quit after Parson's injury. That was very concerning. Hafley has a problem.

The passing offense has been insipid without Watson this year. The D has been exposed this year if teams can attack the deep perimeter and Parsons is not getting home. There is no getting around those realities. LaFleur has had no answer to no Watson and Hafley completely failed to try to scheme pressure to disrupt Nix last night. That won’t win anything worthwhile.

There was quite a bit of YAC left off the field of play. Why does this guy throw a challenge flag on an obvious reception. I would move Hopper into Quay's spot and use Q Walker as a designated pass rusher. He is clueless in coverage and not a plugger. The needle is not pointing upward.

Word is Golden is having a difficult time learning the playbook and missing assignments. Not unusual for a rookie learning the NFL's thicker play book.

He will be fine...just too much talent...but Love and the coaches need to trust him to be where he needs to be.

I am curious where the "word" on Golden struggling with assignments is coming from.

The reason I am curious is because myself and two or three other regulars around here have proposed maybe that's an issue, but to the best of my knowledge, there hasn't been any official source from the team saying anything directly to confirm those suspicions.

Don't let our guessing be confused with any sort of substantial "word", lol

Jannes, I just had a conversation with a friend on monday stating that if hafley finds he needs to start blitzing more to generate pressure on Williams while still corralling his ability to make plays with his feet, he needs to give a combination assignment to Walker to either spy or shoot on Williams, because Quay is not a good coverage LB, he's average in run support, but he's got wheels and is best when given aggressive, decisive assignments to attack the LOS.

I agree- use Walker to get after the QB, or, to help contain him. It takes advantage of his best attributes and minimizes his need to do the things he struggles with.

Well they had already lost to the Browns and tied the Cowboys when Kraft got hurt. And within an hour after Kraft got hurt they lost at home to Carolina and were 5-3.
During this big 4 game win streak they beat the last place Giants, last place Vikings, fading Lions and beat the Bears at home on the last play.
They have been overhyped all year. Parsons covered for many defensive inadequacies (Nixon, Valentine, Q Walker and Gary in particular)
Doubs, Golden and Wicks have not been consistent and a disappointment over all.
We head into 2026 with a lame duck HC/GM, and a ton of roster and cap issues. We are paying Hobbs and Gary a lot of money, and we have no first round pick.
Ed Policy has work to do.

Tough to watch the second half of that game. The air just kept leaking out of the balloon as the Broncos took over. Then, the season went pop when Micah Parsons went down. It will be interesting to see how the team responds over the next 3 games.

Hard not to be negative after such a loss so I will say that the team has been punching at or above its weight and that is a good thing. Just a few too many gaps to qualify as a heavyweight contender in my opinion. Whether it is trench play or softness in the secondary the cracks show up under pressure. Our Superbowl will be winning 2 of the 3 remaining games. Go Packers

Despite all the adversity, the Packers might have won this game if their butterfingered secondary could actually catch the ball. They had five legitimate interception opportunities and came up with none of them. Turnovers are a critical part of the game and the Packers had plenty of opportunities and failed to convert. You can't beat top teams doing that.

The injuries are devastating. Losing Parson for the season and Tom, Watson and Williams for indeterminate periods could well knock this team out of the playoffs. Hard to lose four of your top players and not suffer consequences. Truly awful game.

Don't care whether they are starters or backups, every professional DB should be able to catch the ball when it hits them square in the hands which a couple did yesterday. They did catch them last year. Not sure what the problem is this year.

Can Musgrave catch a pass, without falling down? It seems he gets zero YAC, on every pass he catches. Fitzpatrick had the drops, yesterday. One was when we needed to move the chains to extend the drive, late in the game. The ball hit him in the hands. We really miss Tucker Kraft, at TE. Whyle, going down to injury, doesn't help matters in the TE room, either.
We are also going to miss Parsons on the DL. Many are saying that when Parsons went down, our Super Bowl aspirations went out the window. It will be harder to find people to step up, along the DL, than it will be at other positions. Who has stepped up on the DL? Van Ness, in his first game back, played well. I love his speed when he gets into the opponents' backfields. Where was Gary? Brooks, Wooden? Enagbare may be our second best pass rusher in the DL room. I did like to see Edge Cooper blitzing the QB. I want more plays designed with Cooper along the LOS.
Next up are the Bears. That will be a huge game, for our back ups, to step up in. GO PACK, GO!!!

Actually no. Love's % completion is 6th in the NFL by QBs throwing for 3,000+ yards to date.

On explosive throws over 20+ yards Love is completing over 43% of his passes, up from 37 % last year and would be the best of his NFL starting career.

Also his "misses" on 20+ explosives are 19% and 4th best in the NFL to date.

This from Rod Demovsky who says Love's deep accuracy this season is very good.

If you wanted a WR who was likely to come in and contribute heavily early in round one, Golden was well down the list. A smaller guy who wasn’t a true slot in college. If he adds strength to beaut contact and route finesse, then he may end up being great, but there were much more likely early contributors, particularly as the one thing we did not need was a slot.

Beating the Bears without Parsons to keep up with Williams just became vastly more difficult. To succeed, Hafley is going to have to run a significantly different approach. We probably need to go big as default to deal with the run, change our backfield coverage materially or have a spy that is fast and has some size. Otherwise Williams will be able to run to daylight and pass with all the time in the world if he doesn’t.

One of the most exciting then disappointing collapses I have ever watched the Packers play. Not as bad as the Seattle NFCCG...but close in terms of "what next" and the feeling of inevitable defeat.

After the amazing 40 yard TD pass and catch by Love & JJ...feeling good! Now up 23-14 early in the 3rd and seemingly in control as the D forced a broncos 3 and out...Love throws deep the Watson and EVERYTHING changed.

After that INT and injury to Christian, the entire Packers Team played complementary football...as in pathetic play...unfocused & deflated.

After that INT Broncos completely dominated. Broncos: 7 plays for 71yards...TD. Packers punt. Broncos: 11 plays for 70 yards...TD. Packers get a FG. Broncos: 9 plays for 63 yards...TD. Packers throw an INT.

Last 6 minutes Broncos had 3 possessions of "drain clock", Packers had 2 possessions that gained a MINUS 4 yards. Just a complete collapse. No fight at all.

Game ball to Jacobs.
Lame Calls—some pathetic officiating in the 1st half—but I’m not blaming the officiating for the loss.
“Since’75” believes calling out egregious officiating is equivalent to being a Vikings/Bears fan. If you live in the world of sunshine and lollipops-good for you.
Here’s a side note ‘75.
I was a Fed agent for 40 yrs; 10 yrs in Denver. I personally assisted in blowing the lid off a bribery scandal of former Broncos owner Bowlen and a high-ranking superior in my agency—Bowlen shud have been prosecuted-wasn’t; and the superior shud have been fired—wasn’t.
The Broncos now have the richest owner in the league and a scandalous coach who previously offered “bribes-bounty’s” to injure opponents “put them out of the game.”
I could go on—NFL/Sports betting…
Forgive me if I’m sometimes…”skeptical”…
And ‘75—you told me to “grow-up” …I was in two shootings and probably shud have lost my life…some day I’ll “grow up”.
Go Packers!!!

Lame Balls: The refusal of some fans and FO to acknowledge the foundational weakness of the OL, DL (without Parsons, Wyatt) and CB-room. And, to refuse to objectively assess and discuss why that is so. This team relies on star players such as Kraft, Parsons, Watson, Jacobs w/o building in more depth. If one of them goes down, the team falls apart for 1-2 games. Who chose the TE's? That room is also bare--only one could block and catch? Weren't those
weaknesses noted before signing? It is another fantasy to crown a guy WR#1 when he has only returned for 4 games and has a tremendous injury history.

Musgrave, VanNess, Gary, Quay, Morgan, Banks, Hobbs, Belton have been very expensive and troubling.

Living in fantasy and spin is what keeps this team from taking the next step--gotta be honest

I have to agree with Kalani that this one felt earth shattering, due to the injuries. They had a lot of injuries in 2010, when they won the Super Bowl, but all of the injured players were good to average. None of them were great. In some cases their replacements were not downgrades. In fact, Desmond Bishop was a better player than Nick Barnett, who he replaced. They did not lose a player anywhere near the caliber of Micah Parsons, or Tucker Kraft for that matter. Also, losing Devonte Wyatt after giving up Kenny Clark in a trade is just plain evil.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out. The main reason they lost to the Broncos was because the OL was not able to protect Jordan Love in a road game against the best pass rush in the league, coupled with the fact that the Packer defense was not able to generate much of a pass rush---not even when Parsons was playing, and it was worse when he got knocked out of the game. It was a bad game for the CBs too, obviously.

I can see the offense possibly recovering from this, but it will be a tall order for the defense.

I agree that in the 2010 season they didn’t lose anyone on par with Micah, but at the time Jermichael Finley was about as important to that offense as Kraft is today. They also lost players like RT Tauscher, Newhouse, Morgan Burnett, Barnett, Neal, and Poppinga, and several others played through injuries, including Matthews, Zombo, Cullen Jenkins, and Clifton.

Whether it’s truly comparable is hard to say. The players they’ve just lost are definitely very important, but not impossible to replace, and yes, it will be a tall order!

I tend to be a bit overly optimistic by nature and can think back to 2010 season when the Packers suffered many injuries and entered the playoffs as the 6th seed and wound up winning the Super Bowl against the Steelers.

I realize injuries are part of the game and this year is among the most devastating I can recall. Losing Kraft, Wyatt and Elton Jenkins were a bitter pill to swallow, but the loss of Parsons yesterday was like losing two top notch players in one instance. I always felt that we have two players which we must hope avoid season ending injuries if we are to win a Lombardi Trophy this year and they are Jordan Love and Micha Parsons. I certainly didn't like losing the game yesterday, but next weeks game is the most important one on the schedule. However, the loss of Parsons put a dark cloud over our asperations for a Super Bowl appearance this season. I feel badly for our team and also for that great competitor who will have to wait until next year to take to the gridiron.

Whatever else we want to say about football, the simple truth of the game is that it is won or lost at the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. The Packers without Parsons and Wyatt are weak on the D line. On the offensive side of the ball, they are just OK. That's not going to take Green Bay far in the playoffs, if they do get there. The front office needs to fix that in the off season, and can we please find at least ONE starting caliber CB?

Nix is overrated. What great throws did he make? What he did do is escape pressure (GB pressured the QB 18x, Denver got 19 pressures but our D line "didn't show up?" Terrible writing in an otherwise good article) and complete passes that would have been easy otherwise. It was enough to win even if that doesn't count as greatness, and it was more than JL10 could do.

MLF should have game planned NOT to throw into tight windows in this game, at least not deep. We all saw that a week ago.

A word about Jordan Love. He’s a good, professional NFL quarterback. But is it just me, or does he look oddly unathletic? When he scrambles, it always feels like he’s one step from falling over—a stork with a bad knee.

I watched Favre. He ran rarely, but when he did, he bulldozed linebackers and head-butted defensive linemen with a grin. He was all fire. I watched Rodgers—anger simmering, supreme confidence, outright arrogance: I can make any throw, against anyone, and I don’t care who you are.

Now look around the league. Josh Allen will run through you, around you, or away from you—and then make a throw on the move to a receiver you’ve never heard of. Mahomes is (or was, before yesterday’s injury) pure money. Even this young kid Drake Maye already looks like a young Brady—refuses to lose.

Love is good. He has a good arm. He’s not supremely accurate, but often accurate enough. He’s been in the league six years, yet people still talk about his “potential.” At six years in, we have a pretty clear picture of who he is as a quarterback.

Love's ability to run with the ball is not in the same category as Josh Allen, Jalen Hurts, or a few others, but I think he is at least average in that department, and probably above average. His athleticism is evident in his ability to avoid pressure by moving around in the pocket while keeping his eyes downfield, and also in his ability to throw the ball with force, accuracy, and a soft touch when needed. Is he perfect in doing that? No, but neither is any other QB.

@JL-just a thought-Favre had a difficult relationship with his father-many say it was abusive. He may have developed a thick skin and he lived on a farm which requires a lot of physical work.

Rodgers had an older brother (19 months) who was much bigger, taller and likely beat the shit out of him on the regular. He might also have been the better athlete
There are many stories of the Rodger's ' boys playing neighborhood sports, way into the night, in the summer, to the death-sometimes Aaron's dad had to separate him from is brother. His younger brother, Jordan said Aaron was 'always in the mix'

Jordan L. had 3 sisters and didn't get that everyday brother-on-brother or tough father (Jordan was close to his dad but he died when Jordan was 14)

I strongly believe a person in the NFL needs toughness that is developed in the home at an early age. I see it in Jacobs, Kraft, etc--

Oh good grief...now you are going to spread NFL psychology narratives?

I know men who lost fathers at a young age and they are incredibly tough, focused, high character men. So is Love.

I also know many top athletes who grew up with only sisters as siblings.

Why don't you take a vacation from stalking my every comment? Just scroll by my comments-can you handle that? Big boys learn to do that.

Mr. Packer's PR. There are three of you who have been appropriated and it was achieved by appealing to your vanity.
