1) I know it wasn't really your point, but you can't use the logic of taking an almost $35M/year player and transplanting them to another system, because that has major cap implications, which then changes the support for the team. That's the cardinal sin, but I agree with your point that balanced systems can be run by an average QB and yet are elevated by great QBs. In college football, the Wisconsin Badgers with Russell Wilson are a great example.

2) I agree completely with the comparison between Andy Reid and Mike McCarthy. Sometimes it's not just the HC, but also the team building aspect. These are two coaches that are going to keep teams stable and so their teams make the playoffs or barely miss every year meaning they never get good Draft picks. There isn't a lot of salary cap so they can't sign big name FA's either, and so the teams and coach need a shakeup. Then Reid goes to Kansas City and does what he has always been doing, but this time he gets over the hump. I predict McCarthy is going to have the Cowboys dominating the NFC East from Day 1, and I wouldn't be surprised if he wins a Super Bowl there. And on that point, Jerry Jones doesn't get enough credit because he's an owner, but if he was strictly a GM nobody would be complaining about him. He made the greatest offseason move this year by hiring Mike McCarthy.

3) It annoys me that Matt LaFleur is seen as a nobody and Kyle Shanahan has seen as this great football mind. Shanahan failed his way to great talent. Sure, they made a Super Bowl, but then they lost. We'll see how long they keep their team together, but all LaFleur has done since getting to Green Bay is win. The loss in the NFC Championship game was mostly due to the Defense, and all rumors were that LaFleur was hired on the condition that he keep Pettine, so it's hard to blame LaFleur for that loss. He also didn't have his entire Offense implemented yet, and I think you'll see much better situational Offense this year, not just because of player additions like Dillon and Deguara, but mostly because those are the kinds of things you implement AFTER you get the base part of your Offense implemented.

" but all LaFleur has done since getting to Green Bay is win. The loss in the NFC Championship game was mostly due to the Defense"

Yes, GB got 13 wins last season, though most of them fall under the 'win is a win' mindset, and those wins didn't come from MLF's head coaching genius, but from that of a play performed by Rodgers and more so the miscue's and failings of the opponents. Yes, games always have miscues and failings by opponents, but the amount that came in GB's favor were plenty and birth the season of the pretenders being awarded more for what they didn't actually earn by their or the HC's merits.

The pressure that is placed upon MLF this season is high and wrongfully so, but that's what comes from being the recipient of acclaim under a false positive first time testing. A reversal of fortune, especially a multiple game below .500 may dissolve any time left with Rodgers to an immediate none, and that pressure placed upon the team to play Love as the fixer may put GB back into the 3rd place team at best, quicker than any could dream.

I don't think of LaFleur as a "nobody" but I don't think of him as a "somebody" either. In fact, as an offensive mind, he appears to be unproven. I do think Shanahan is a proven offensive mind. Atlanta scored 11 points per game less in 2017 with a different OC but the same skill players than it did in 2016 with Shanahan.

GB scored 23.5 pts/game in 2018 under MM/Philbin and 23.5 pts/game in 2019. GB was 0-4 in games in which the opponent scored 25 points. SF's offense scored 19.7 in 2016: under Shanahan, SF scored 20.7, 21.4, and 29.9 points per game. There is a clear progression.

As far as failing his way, Shanahan as HC and Lynch as GM both started in 2017. SF spanked GB in the regular season game: scoring 8 points isn't going to win against anybody except the bears. I can't say that the offense looked good in the Conf. Champ. Game either, but there were some early miscues that got GB behind the 8 ball, IIRC.

I certainly think LaFleur deserves a chance to fully implement his offense and concepts. That means 2020 and 2021, at the least. That doesn't mean if GB could hire Shanahan as HC w/o having to give a draft pick I wouldn't dump LaFleur ASAP.

Although yes the defense in the NFC championship game was not at its best, The Niners D line was very disruptive.
