I'm glad that the Packers signed Baylis to the practice squad, he impressed me more than I was impressed with Sternberger on Thursday night against the Chiefs.
Sternberger might be a project, he looks pretty slight at this point in time to play tight end in the NFL.

Linebacker Kiko Alonso has been traded to the Saints in exchange for linebacker Vince Biegel,
That's all it took? Frickin Vince Biegel our reject? I was hoping BG would Shore up the ILB position with Alonso

Sternberger had a concussion in the preseason. Bayless has had 2 years on a PS 1st with Houston in 2017 and then with GB in 2018. Yakes awhile to develop into an NFL player. Not really fair to compare Sternberger to Baylis.

However, that is the NFL reality. No more Jr. Varsity

Yeah but, the other NFL reality is you don't invest a high pick in a guy and then dump him year 1. It (almost) never happens.

What happened Markus Jones who looked impressive v KC?

Exactly what I was thinking, wondered how he didn't make the squad, unless he got picked up elsewhere or decided to sign elsewhere.

Great question....did another team pick him up?

Just googled it, and didn't find anything since he was with the Packers. He could be one of those guys who gets a call if injuries hit the team too hard. One of those "keep in shape, we'll call you if needed, and try out next year" players.

Still think the smart play will be to cut Marcedes Lewis if an ILB materializes or Alan Lazard lights it up before we lose him.

Lewis is going to be part of the crew of road graders. Lazard is our #6 WR at best. Lewis is a gameday active guy. If we open in a double TE set, he’s probably a starter.
Plus, he’s been around the block a few times, and when adversity strikes he’s going to be more useful than a rookie reserve.
We are trying to win before Rodgers turns 50. Don’t get rid of good players today in favor of somebody who MIGHT be good in a couple of years.

Glad they kept a relationship with RB Tra Carson. He looked like he was ready to fill in if there are injuries to the three RBs on the 53.
Glad they kept WR Allen Lazard around. He has talent, and was in the conversation for the 53 roster to the end.
Glad they will continue to work with QB Manny Wilkins, who has potential.
Wish they could have signed DB Natrell Jamerson, OLB Markus Jones & OL Adam Pankey to their PS, as well.

7th 2018 twice cut DL James Looney

only 68% of rostered NFL players were drafted. 32% of NFL players were undrafted. The dolphins just kept 7 undrafted rookies on their roster this year. It may seem unusual to you, but stats and facts show having multiple undrafted players is not only not unusual, it is the norm. It would be unusual if you didn't have several undrafted players. Again, over 3 out of every 10 NFL players are undrafted.

Green bay is well below the league average for their # of undrafted players. Green Bay has fewer undrafted players than 28 of the 32 NFL clubs. 25% of their roster is undrafted. League average is 32%. Some teams are even over 43% undrafted, including last year's playoff colts. 42.5% of the Vikings roster are undrafted players. There is almost no correlation between winning and the percentage of your roster made up by undrafted players.

Thanks for the good knowledge, Branden.
Surprising!

Don't know what Lewis adds really. If he's in it's to block and the other team knows it. Allows D to not have to cover the TE and maybe double Adams. I think Baylis would have been better because he can block somewhat and is a greater threat to catch. Then you can put Jones on the PS. But they must know something. Right? Right?

Simple. If you have a blocking TE, that preserves the threat of a run. Most likely you’ll see Lewis in 12 personnel. He’s going to be very important in new scheme.

Looks like the same guys most suspected would be on the PS.
The only one that threw me was the WR Malik Taylor signing.
I did not see anything special from him.
I was hoping one of the more physical guys like S Tray Matthews and OLB Marcus Jones would make PS too. I'm sure they are on on speed dial if Packers lose someone in those positions.

Gator,
I too surprised by Malik. Havent seen him play nor have I heard anything good or bad about him in camp. Played at Ferris State in Division II. Looks solid build at 6'2". Not fast! Now Redding has played well all summer. Did someone pick him up? How about Moore?

Taylor is a H/W/S prospect. Tests better than Redding with better size (Redding lists under 190 lbs). Very raw. Must see something they want to take a chance on.

Malik Taylor Pro day:
- 6-2 211
- 4.44/4.47
- 4.02 shuttle
- 6.81 3 cone
- 36" vertical
- 10'6" broad jump
- 11 reps of 225 lbs
Decent speed, exceptional agility and explosion. 8.32 RAS score.

Gotta hand it to Gutes. He procures great athletes. Speed, agility, hops, strength a premium for playmakers.
I’m hopeful Savage, Gary, King, Summers & Nijman prove a lot of people wrong.

Nobody picked up Moore, which isn't surprising. Nobody picked up the Vikings former 1st round wide receiver that was cut either

Treadwell had bad hands too!
GatorJason
September 02, 2019 at 07:52 am
You mean Laquon Treadwell. He was 1st rd pick by Vikings in 2016. Vikings believed the hype from draft genius Mike Mayock who said Treadwell was 2nd highest rated player in the draft (6.25) for his position and compared favorably with WR DeAndre Hopkins!
Apparently Mr Mayock and the Vikings disregarded the fact that Treadwell put on 20 pounds after leaving Mississippi and his 40 time ballooned from 4.4 to 4.65. Based on his Pro Day numbers, he would have been ranked 43rd among the NFL Combine WRs! This was a complete fail by Vikings scouting department.
