Packers Select Isaiah McDuffie, ILB in 2021 NFL Draft — Round 6
With the 220nd pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, the Green Bay Packers select Isaiah McDuffie from Boston College to add even more depth to ILB.

MEASURABLES/PRO DAY:
CAREER NOTES:
McDuffie started all 11 of Boston College’s games during the 2020 season. He recorded 107 tackles (54 solos), six and a half tackles for loss, four hurries, five QB hits, three sacks, one pass broken up, one interception, and one fumble recovered. McDuffie played both linebacker and running back at Bennett High School in Buffalo, New York. He was a three-year captain in high school, where he was coached by his father, Stevenson. -- by Mitchell Wolfe.
SCOUTING REPORTS:
McDuffie plays with a palpable energy and rarely gears down until the whistle blows. He's undersized, but is at his best playing inside. That's where his recognition talent and instincts take over and allow him to race to run lanes ahead of the block. He pursues with leverage but has the burst to accelerate and attack when it's time to finish. His full-tilt playing style will lead to occasional issues with pursuit angles and being out of balance as a tackler, though. He's feisty but takes time to free himself from blockers and was ineffective when asked to drop into coverage. He has the ability to become a quality backup with core special teams value.. - NFL.com
While he makes quick reads, they are often incorrect. Compounding matters is that he often plays the game through a straw and struggles to get off blocks. McDuffie has many of the characteristics of a matchup linebacker in a 4-3 defense where he can cover, play in space, and pursue, but he has a long way to go in terms of play diagnosing and processing. - The Draft Network
FIT WITH THE PACKERS:
McDuffie is ranked as the No. 25 inside linebacker out of 30 in the CheeseheadTV.com Draft Guide. His speed and explosion are things that teams dream about, but if he cannot handle blocks from the inside linebacker position, I don't see him getting many defensive snaps.

He might make it, just for the fact that he has speed and can tackle.

ST body type. Beyond that I have no idea how Barry will use him or the holdovers.

Well he seems to know how to and enjoy form tackling.... Something most Packer D players don't do.

Hopefully Barry practices tackling.

Ty Summers, Oren Burks, Kamal Martin and Khrys Barnes is the current ILB group. McDuffie is the rare 6th that has a somewhat easy path to a roster spot and a fair shot at seeing meaningful reps not on ST.

It's obvious they didn't have their mask on. No steals this draft.

Hey Gute- it's time to hit the refresh button on your board. Seriously; another PS player.

6th round compensation pick .. PS is an ok outcome. I was hoping he’d pick some raw beast with upside, but no more likely to avoid the PS or worse.

No doubt, Coldworld. 6th/7th is basically a priority UDFA, not someone that will project to all-rookie status.

He already replaces Burks on my depth chart. Definitely a seek and destroy guy for the Sp teams. Summers should worry about his spot also after the whiffs he put on film from last season.

I say summers will still make the roster.

Summers didnt miss a tackle the rest of the season after his miss on Gurley in the Falcons game. He's also (like it or not) currently our best coverage ILB. I'm not trolling, rewatch the 2nd half of the NFCCG if you can stomach it - and watch Summers. He was a big part of the reason they started to hold it down.

Me too. Ugh. How can you not take a chance on a TOP 40 talent like that? Total head scratcher there.

Moses went undrafted due to injuries. He had surgery in February, and after being picked up the Jags he was placed on their injury report.
