THANK YOU for calling him JJ as that's what he prefers, but NO do not trade #55 away this season as it would not make this team better. Same goes for #58. Even if neither gets another snap these are QUALITY depth and doing well in the playoffs usually requires that.
While I agree Gutey probably won't do anything else before the trade deadline, just for fun here are ways the team could improve this season:
Luke Musgrave Heath Wicks one kicker if we can't keep both. I remember #88's rookie season so of course I hate the idea of losing him but even at his best did he bring anything we don't have elsewhere on this roster? Yes it's rare for a player to peak as a rookie but he's lived up to his pre-draft evaluation as not being a good blocker; I'm not sure why we're not seeing him stretching the seam but if he's not helping us from the bench maybe trading him makes sense? I've always loved Heath but even without him and Wicks I can't imagine not having enough targets especially considering everyone in our RB room is a viable target.
JPJ! I agree that DT and CB are greater needs but if JPJ won the C position we could slide Jenkins back to LG and we'd have depth everywhere. Or if Jenkins keeps the starting role at C and JPJ is C2 we'd still have good depth everywhere.
Lots of teams need a CB so we're unlikely to get one, but Tariq Woolen? DT is in less demand but also less supply. Hopefully Wyatt returns to 100% and stays injury free throughout the playoffs but it'd still be nice to have more depth there, our rookies show promise but look like they need time to develop before contributing to bringing the title to Titletown.
In terms of a returner I was sad to see Mecole Hardman go, as he's made big plays in big moments of big games, including the biggest game. Then again I was also sad to lose Eric Wilson and TJ Slaton. I'd love to see Marshawn Lloyd as our returner since (last I knew) he hadn't proven fumbling was a thing of the past and this would require focusing on that. And his super power is what he can do in the open field so this combination has returner written all over it to me. Except he hasn't survived one game yet without getting hurt. Gutey's third round curse? At least Doubs secures it before taking off, and calls for the fair catch sometimes.
GPG! This team has greatness all over the field, here's hoping they can put it together this season ...
