Bengals Place Crocker, Rucker on IR

The Cincinnati Bengals announced that defensive end Antwan Odom has been added to the team's 53-man roster.

Odom had been on a two-week roster exemption following his return from a four-game suspension for violating the league's substance abuse policy. To make room for Odom, safety Chris Crocker and defensive end Frostee Rucker were placed on injured reserve, with cornerback Jonathan Wade signed to fill out the 53-man roster.

Crocker injured his knee during Sunday's 49-31 loss to the Buffalo Bills. In nine games this season, all in a starting role, Crocker had 43 tackles, 2 quarterback sacks, and five passes defensed.

A former third-round pick (84th overall) out of Marshall by the Cleveland Browns, Crocker has 415 tackles, 9.5 quarterback sacks, and 10 interceptions in a 110-game career with the Browns (2003-05), Atlanta Falcons (2006-07), Miami Dolphins (2008), and Bengals, where Crocker has started 28 games over the last 2+ seasons.

Rucker (6-3, 280) had 17 tackles and a quarterback sack in nine games this season. The former third-round pick out of USC has 61 tackles and 3 quarterback sacks in 37 games for the Bengals over the five seasons.

Rucker signed a one-year contract extension with the Bengals as a restricted free agent this past off-season.

Wade (5-11, 200) was a third-round pick out of Tennessee by the St. Louis Rams in 2007. Released by St. Louis in March, Wade signed with the Detroit Lions, where he started four of eight games this season before he was waived earlier this month.

In 55 career games, Wade has 97 tackles and two interceptions.
