Bills Place DE Dwan Edwards on IR

The Buffalo Bills have placed defensive end Dwan Edwards on injured reserve, Jay Skurski of The Buffalo News reports.

Edwards suffered a serious hamstring injury during Sunday's 16-13 overtime loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

After spending the first six seasons of his career with the Baltimore Ravens, the 6-3, 290-pound Edwards signed a four-year, $18 million contract with the Bills in March. In 11 games, Edwards had 57 tackles, 1 quarterback sack, 1 of the team's 4 interceptions, and a forced fumble.

If healthy, Spencer Johnson is expected to replace Edwards in the starting lineup, with 2010 third-round pick Alex Carrington and former first-round pick John McCargo rotating in, as well.

As I reported last night, the Bills signed tight end Mike Caussin off the Jacksonville Jaguars' practice squad to fill Edwards' roster spot.
