Broncos NT Ronald Fields Arrested in Houston

Josina Anderson of FOX31 in Denver reports that Denver Broncos nose tackle Ronald Fields was arrested in Houston, Texas last night.

According to Anderson, Fields was charged with the unlawful carrying of a weapon, which is a misdemeanor. Fields posted $1,000 bond, and has a court date scheduled for May 14.

Signed to a two-year, $5 million dollar contract as a free agent last off-season, Fields started all 16 games for the Broncos in 2009, totaling 37 tackles, including one behind the line of scrimmage. The Broncos run defense ranked 26th in the NFL last season, and the Broncos signed veteran Jamal Williams to be the starting nose tackle in 2010.

Originally a fifth-round draft pick (137th overall) by the San Francisco 49ers in 2005, the 6-2, 314-pound former Mississippi State Bulldog has 112 tackles and a quarterback sack during his five-year career.
