Browns LB Marcus Benard Collapses in Locker Room

Cleveland Browns linebacker Marcus Benard collapsed in the team's locker room this morning, Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain-Dealer reports.

Benard had been talking on his cellphone when he passed out and fell off his chair. Teammates initially thought that Benard was joking, but fellow linebacker Matt Roth quickly summoned the trainers to the scene.

The Browns have not issued a comment on Benard's condition, but Cabot notes that Benard was conscious when trainers were tending to him and is en route to a local hospital for tests.

A second-year undrafted free agent from Jackson State, the 6-2, 256-pound Benard has 13 tackles and leads the Browns with 4.5 quarterback sacks this season.
