Browns to Place G Billy Yates on IR

The Cleveland Browns will place veteran right guard Billy Yates on injured reserve with a biceps injury, head coach Eric Mangini announced on Monday.

"His bicep doesn’t look real good, probably going to be out the rest of the season," Mangini said . "It looks like he’s heading to IR."

Yates (6-2, 305) started three of the nine games he's been active for the Browns this season, his second with the club after spending the previous five seasons with the New England Patriots. Yates' NFL career began with the Miami Dolphins, who signed him as an undrafted free agent out of Texas A&M in 2003.

Browns 2010 third-round pick Shawn Lauvao, who was inactive the first six weeks of the regular season, replaced Yates at right guard and is expected to receive the first crack at replacing Yates as the starter.
