San Diego Chargers linebacker Larry English will miss some time after undergoing foot surgery on Tuesday, reports Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune.

Acee adds that the Chargers have re-signed veteran safety Quinton Teal, though no corresponding roster move is immediately known.

After allowing two kick returns for touchdowns on Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks, the Chargers are expected to shuffle up their special teams units this week. Teal posted 23 special teams tackles during his three seasons with the Carolina Panthers (2007-09), and had a pair of special teams tackles for the Chargers during the 2010 pre-season.

San Diego cut Teal, who spent the off-season on the Seahawks' roster, on September 4.
