Chargers Place LB Cyril Obiozor On Waivers

The San Diego Chargers have waived linebacker Cyril Obiozor, his agent, Ian Greengross, announced on Twitter.

San Diego had signed the 6-4, 249-pound linebacker off the Arizona Cardinals' practice squad in Week 5.

In two games with the Chargers, Obiozor totaled one special teams tackle.

Originally signed by the Green Bay Packers as an undrafted free agent out of Texas A&M, Obiozor appeared in five games for Green Bay last season after spending much of his rookie season on their practice squad.

UPDATE: Linebacker David Herron has been signed to take Obiozor's roster spot.

Herron entered the NFL with the Minnesota Vikings, who signed the former Michigan State linebacker as an undrafted free agent in 2007. Herron split his rookie season between the Vikings and New England Patriots before starting 3 of 14 games with the Vikings in 2008, totaling a career-high 14 tackles.

Herron spent last season with the Kansas City Chiefs, making six tackles on special teams.
