Chargers S Kevin Ellison Didn't Want to Run Out of Pills

San Diego Chargers safety Kevin Ellison, arrested Monday afternoon after a search of his vehicle during a routine traffic stop turned up 100 Vicodin pills, didn't want to run out of painkillers during the upcoming season, Jerome Stanley, his agent, announced.

"He thought it was a good idea to get enough pain killers to last the season," Stanley said, according to Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune. "They were for him to use because of his knee surgery.

"He’s a little embarrassed," Stanley said, adding that he was unaware of where Ellison obtained the pills and that his client didn't want to "have to bother anyone" for more pills.

Ellison underwent three surgeries on his left knee during his four-year career at the University of Southern California.?
