Chargers Safety Kevin Ellison Arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance

San Diego Chargers safety Kevin Ellison was arrested in Redondo Beach, California on Monday and is facing possession of a controlled substance charges, the Associated Press reports.

Ellison was pulled over after he was observed speeding in a school zone. A search of his vehicle turned up 100 Vicodin tablets, for which Ellison did not have a prescription. Ellison was booked and released after posting $10,000 bond.

A 2009 sixth-round pick (189th overall) out of USC, Ellison started 9 of 13 regular season games, totaling 52 tackles, including three for a loss, and a quarterback sack. Ellison started the Chargers' 17-14 playoff loss to the New York Jets, making one tackle.

Ellison played four seasons at USC, where he underwent three knee surgeries.
