Chargers Sign S Quinton Teal

Free agent safety Quinton Teal has signed with the San Diego Chargers, Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

An undrafted free agent out of Coastal Carolina, Teal signed with the Carolina Panthers in 2007. The 6-1, 187-pound safety totaled 45 tackles, including 23 on special teams, during his 44 games with the Panthers.

Teal established a career-high with 20 tackles in 2009, where Teal started a career-high three games.

Signed by the Seattle Seahawks on April 28, Teal was cut on June 9 when the Seahawks signed a pair of 2010 draft picks.

Though the Chargers have solid safeties, they have been without 2010 fourth-round pick Darrell Stuckey, who has missed nearly a week of practice with a strained groin, leaving the team with just four healthy bodies at the position.
