Chargers Trying Tyronne Green at Left Tackle

San Diego Chargers offensive lineman Tyronne Green appeared in three games at guard as a fourth-round pick in 2009, and had been working at center, two positions the 6-2, 309-pound Green is built to play.
With Marcus McNeill letting his one-year RFA tender collect dust, and Tra Thomas sidelined after having his knee scoped, the Chargers have been using Green at left tackle, reports Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune.
"All the line stuff kind of fits together as far as technique," Green said. "Of course you’ve got a lot faster guys off the edge. I’m just trying to match their intensity and going hard."
Despite his less-than-ideal left tackle size and build, Green's arm measured at 33 3/4" at the 2009 Scouting Combine, and that wingspan startled Chargers defensive end Jacques Cesaire.
"I’m like, 'I’m about to kill this guy right now,'" said Cesaire. "I come off my stance, little did I know he had a 950-foot wingspan."
