Chiefs LB Corey Mays Signs RFA Tender

Kansas City Chiefs restricted free agent linebacker Corey Mays has signed his one-year tender, Josh Looney of KCChiefs.com, the team's official website, reports.

Mays was tendered at the "Second Round" level, and with four accrued seasons, will earn $1.759 million dollars in 2010. With Mays signed, safety Jarrad Page is the lone Chiefs restricted free agent who has not signed his tender.

Originally signed by the New England as an undrafted free agent from Notre Dame in 2006, Mays appeared in 9 games in his first season and a half with the Patriots before being waived a month into his season season. Claimed by the Cincinnati Bengals, Mays totaled 31 tackles, with 22 coming on special teams, in 23 games for the Bengals, who terminated their rights to Mays after the '08 season.

Signed by the Chiefs last off-season, Mays started 13 games at inside linebacker, totaling a career-high 85 tackles, including two for a loss. Mays is projected to start alongside fellow restricted free agent Derrick Johnson in 2010.
