According to a league source, the Kansas City Chiefs have reached agreement on a four-year deal with fifth-round linebacker Cameron Sheffield.

Sheffield's contract has a base value of $1.984 million dollars, and includes a fully guaranteed $194,450 roster bonus in lieu of a signing bonus. The maximum value of Sheffield's contract is $2.75 million dollars.

Sheffield was a three-year starter at defensive end at Troy, totaling 163 tackles, including 28.5 for a loss and 15 quarterback sacks. Sheffield twice earned first-team All-Sun Belt Conference honors.

Asked to play outside linebacker at the Senior Bowl, Sheffield impressed scouts with his athleticism, making the 6-2, 257-pounder a legitimate rush-linebacker for teams running a 3-4 system.

Sheffield is behind Mike Vrabel on the Chiefs’ depth chart, and his immediate contributions will most likely be on special teams.
