Colts to Sign P Jeremy Kapinos

The Indianapolis Colts will sign punter Jeremy Kapinos, Mike Chappell of the Indianapolis Star reports.

Kapinos handled the punting duties for the Green Bay Packers last season, posting a net average of 34.1 yards on 66 punts with a long of 58 yards. 15 of his punts were placed inside the opponents' 20-yard line.

The Packers did offer a contract after last season.

An undrafted free agent out of Penn State, Kapinos has appeared in 21 NFL games, including one during his rookie season with the New York Jets in 2007.

Indianapolis has an open roster spot after placing Dallas Clark on injured reserve late last week. Pat McAfee, the Colts' regular punter, was suspended for one game for conduct detrimental to the team after his arrest for public intoxication last Tuesday.C
