The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed fifth-round defensive end Austen Lane, Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post reports.
Per Wilson, Lane will receive a signing bonus "of roughly $184,000".
A four-year starter at Murray State, Lane totaled 209 tackles, including 53.5 for a loss and 29 quarterback sacks, earning first-team All-Ohio Valley Conference honors in 2008 and 2009, as well as the conference’s Defensive Player of the Year award after his senior season.
Even at 6-6, 276-pound Lane is very athletic (34.5” vertical leap, 10’05” broad jump at the Combine), and is expected to help improve a Jaguars’ pass rush that produced just 14 quarterback sacks in 2009.
Lane is the second of the Jaguars' six picks in the 2010 NFL Draft to sign a contract.
