ESPN's Paul Kuharsky reports the Jacksonville Jaguars have signed fifth-round linebacker Larry Hart.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Hart was a two-year starter at Division II Central Arkansas, where he twice earned FCS All-American honors. (Hart began his college career at Holmes Community College) After posting 31.5 tackles for a loss and 21.5 quarterback sacks over two seasons, Hart earned Southern Conference Defensive Player of the Year honors in both of his seasons.
Hart was not invited to the 2010 Scouting Combine, but did run the 40-yard dash in 4.62 seconds, and posted a vertical leap of 34” with a 10’01” broad jump, as well as 24 reps on the bench press. At 6-0 and 248 pounds, Hart is an undersized defensive end who the Jaguars hope can be a late-round steal to help improve their lackluster pass rush.
Hart is the first member of the Jaguars' six-player draft class to sign a contract.
