The Jacksonville Jaguars announced the signing of free agent offensive lineman Guy Whimper.

Linebacker Eric Alexander has been placed on waivers to add Whimper to the 53-man roster.

A fourth-round pick (129th overall) out of East Carolina by the New York Giants in 2006, Whimper (6-5, 302) appeared in 30 games between the 2006, 2007, and 2009 seasons, all with the Giants. Whimper missed the 2008 season with a foot injury.

Whimper was not eligible for unrestricted free agency this off-season, and was tendered at the "Original Round" level by the Giants. Whimper was released by the Giants as part of their final training camp roster cuts.

The Jaguars also re-signed wide receiver Clarence Denmark to the practice squad. Wide receiver Lance Long was released from the practice squad, leaving one spot open.
