Jaguars Sign OT Erik Pears

The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed free agent offensive tackle Erik Pears, the team announced on Tuesday.

Second-year right tackle Eben Britton has been placed on injured reserve.

Pears (6-8, 305) started four of 12 games for the Raiders in 2009, the first year in a three-year contract Pears signed with the Raiders last off-season. Pears spent much of the first month of the 2010 season bouncing on-and-off Oakland's roster.

Pears began his NFL career with the Denver Broncos, who signed him as an undrafted free agent out of Colorado State in 2005, and has started 30 of 44-game NFL career.
