Jets Sign QB Mark Brunell

Jason La Canfora of the NFL Network reports that, as expected, the New York Jets have signed quarterback Mark Brunell.
Brunell worked out for the Jets on Wednesday, and signed a two-year deal at the veteran minimums to back-up second-year passer Mark Sanchez.
The 39-year old Brunell, who turns 40 in September, has spent the last two seasons with the Saints, serving as Drew Brees' top backup. In 18 games, including a start in 2009's regular season finale, Brunell completed 15-of-30 passes for 102 yards and an interception.
A fifth-round (118th overall) pick out of the University of Washington by the Green Bay Packers in 1993, Brunell spent nine seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars before joining the Redskins in 2004. Brunell is a 59.5% passer, with 31,928 yards, 182 touchdowns, 107 interceptions, and a career passer rating of 83.9, but has only attempted 30 passes since 2006.
Brunell made headlines in June when he filed for bankruptcy.
