Retired NFL linebacker Junior Seau was arrested in San Diego earlier this morning and charged with domestic violence, TMZ.com reports.

Details of his arrest were not disclosed.

Upon his release from jail, Seau drove his Cadillac Escalade off a cliff in Carlsbad, California. Seau survived the crash, and has been transported to a local hospital.

The future Hall of Fame linebacker spent the first 13 seasons of his 20-year career with the San Diego Chargers. After a three-year stint with the Miami Dolphins, the 12-time Pro Bowler spent his final four seasons with the New England Patriots, totaling 14 tackles in 7 games last season.
