Kevin O'Connell Has Torn Labrum

Jenny Vrentas of The Star Ledger reports that quarterback Kevin O'Connell has a torn labrum in his throwing shoulder.
O'Connell was waived by the New York Jets on Tuesday.
After his release, which the most recent episode of HBO's "Hard Knocks" series showed occurred after quarterback Kellen Clemens had agreed to a reduced salary, O'Connell sought a second opinion on his shoulder, which was reportedly injured during the pre-season.
O'Connell will have the shoulder surgically-repaired, and faces several months of rehab before he's able to play football.
The former third-round pick (98th overall) out of San Diego State was scheduled to earn $470,000 in base salary this season.
