Lions LB Julian Peterson Isn't Afraid of Dustin Keller

New York Jets tight end Dustin Keller has emerged as one of the game's top young tight ends. Keller leads the team in receptions (26), receiving yards (388), and receiving touchdowns (5), but Detroit Lions linebacker Julian Peterson isn't concerned about tomorrow's match-up, Carlos Monarrez of the Detroit Free Press reports.

"I've been doing that for years, man," Peterson said about covering opposing tight ends on Friday. "He better catch up to my stats. I've been doing this for 11 years. Tony Gonzalez, Shannon Sharpe, the list goes on. That's what I do."

Gonzalez and Sharpe have put up Hall of Fame-caliber numbers, so Peterson's choice of examples doesn't inspire much confidence in his ability to shut down Keller, a younger, faster athlete who has been targeted 47 times this season.

The numbers "one" and "two", however, might.

They represented the number of receptions (one) and yards (two) that Keller had the one and only time Keller played against Peterson in the NFL. (12/21/08 in Seattle)
