Free agent center and NFL Players Association president Kevin Mawae has issued the following response to the Green Bay Packers financial report:
"It’s 1/32nd of the financial information we’ve requested in response to their demand that we give back $1 billion and increase our risk of injury by playing two additional games."
Earlier today, the Packers announced that while their net profit increased from $4 million to $5.2 million for the fiscal year ending March 31. Despite taking in a record-high $258 million in revenue, the Packers' operating profits decreased from $20.1 million to $9.8 million.
Increased player costs, which Packers CEO Mark Murphy says have risen "at twice the rate of revenue" since the current CBA was ratified in 2006, were cited for the decline in operating profits.
