Liz Mullen of the Sports Business Journal reports that San Diego Chargers linebacker Shawne Merriman has fired CAA Sports.

Merriman, a three-time Pro Bowler, is a restricted free agent who was tendered at the "First- and Third-Round" level this off-season. The one-year tender is worth $3.269 million dollars in base salary in 2010, but Merriman would like to reach a long-term contract extension, preferably with the Chargers.

Originally represented by Gary Wichard, Merriman hired CAA's Tom Condon in 2007. Who Merriman has hired to replace Condon/CAA is unknown at this time.

On the bright side for Condon, Mullen reports that he has been hired by Tennessee Titans quarterback Vince Young, who has two years and $16 million dollars in base salary remaining on his rookie contract.
