According to Phillip Wilson of the Indianapolis Star, Indianapolis Colts head coach Jim Caldwell has been told by league officials that pass interference should have been called on San Diego Chargers safety Eric Weddle in the third quarter of the Chargers' 36-14 win.

With the Colts facing a 3rd-and-9 from their own 28-yard line midway through the third quarter last Sunday, Colts quarterback Peyton Manning's pass to Reggie Wayne was intercepted Weddle, who returned it 41 yards for a touchdown. The pick-six, Manning's second of the game, gave the Chargers a 26-14 lead.

Manning, NBC's Cris Collinsworth, and Colts fans at Lucas Oil Stadium, which showed the replay of the interception throughout the commercial break, all felt Weddle had interfered on the pass play.

Apparently the league did, too.

My take: I thought it was a clean play by Weddle, and that Wayne went down a little too easily to warrant a flag. Besides, Wayne has 752 receptions for 10,300 yards and 67 touchdowns during his career. There's a zero percent chance that he's never tugged or blatantly pushed off a DB in order to pad that total.
