The Baltimore Ravens kick return unit averaged 26.0 yards per return in 2009, second in the National Football League. That production was due in large part to then-rookie cornerback Lardarius Webb, who averaged 26.2 yards and had a 95-yard touchdown return before injuring his knee in December.

Running back Jalen Parmele picked up the slack the final two weeks of the season, but has struggled this season, averaging 23.0 yards with just two returns longer than 25 yards.

To provide a spark to the return game, the Ravens are turning to cornerback Josh Wilson, Ken Murray of the Baltimore Sun reports.

"I can tell you right now, I'm ready, I know how to play football," Wilson said on Friday. "I'm a football player. When I get the opportunity to show that, it'll be evident."

Acquired before the start of the season from the Seattle Seahawks for a conditional 2011 draft choice, the former second round pick (55th overall) out of Maryland has a 25.0-yard average on 94 career kick returns, including an 89-yard return for a touchdown during his rookie season.

Seattle's primary return man in 2008, Wilson averaged 25.4 yards with eight returns of 40+ yards.

Since being traded to his hometown team, Wilson has two tackles in three games. After starting in Week 3, Wilson was a gameday inactive for last week's win over the Pittsburgh Steelers.
