Seahawks Extend VP of Football Admin. John Idzik's Contract

The Seattle Seahawks have extended the contract of John Idzik, the team's Vice-President of Football Administration, by two years, Danny O'Neil of The Seattle Times reports.

Idzik has been with the Seahawks since 2007, replacing Mike Reinfeldt, who left to be the general manager of the Tennessee Titans. Though he has other responsibilities, Idzik is primarily responsible for the negotiation of player contracts, as well as the team's compliance under the salary cap.

The son of an NFL coach, Idzik's own NFL career began with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, spending eleven seasons in the personnel and football administration departments. It was in Tampa where Idzik worked with former Seahawks general manager Tim Ruskell, who brought him to the Seahawks in '07.

Prior to joining the Seahawks, Idzik spent three seasons as the Arizona Cardinals Senior Director of Football Operations.S
