Veteran quarterback Chris Simms will be signed on Tuesday.

Young will require surgery to repair the flexor tendon in his right thumb, an injury that occurred during the third quarter of Sunday's 19-16 loss to the Washington Redskins.

Young was booed by the fans at LP Field, and his frustration led to him tossing his shoulder pads into the crowd as he exited the field and a verbal confrontation with Fisher in the locker room.

"I'm not running out on my teammates, I'm running out on you," Young is reported to have said to Fisher.

A former third-round pick (97th overall) out of the University of Texas by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2003, Simms has completed 58.1% of his passes for 3,117 yards, with 12 touchdowns and 18 interceptions, compiling a career passer rating of 69.1.

Simms will be the team's #2 quarterback on Sunday, with 2010 sixth-round pick Rusty Smith the starter.

Simms spent the 2008 season with the Titans before appearing in three games last season with the Denver Broncos. Re-signed by the Titans this off-season, Simms completed 13-of-25 pass attempts for 127 yards during the pre-season before he was released as part of the Titans' final roster cuts.

The Titans will also add a practice squad quarterback, Wyatt adds.
