General Info:

A four-star recruit out of Gateway High School in Monroeville, Pennsylvania, Brisker had to start his collegiate career at the JUCO powerhouse, Lackawanna College, due to being academically ineligible. After enrolling at Lackawanna College and improving his grades, he committed to transfer to Penn State over schools like Alabama, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Pittsburgh, Utah, West Virginia, and Maryland. Brisker played in 13 games with 32 tackles, two interceptions, and three passes defended in his first season with the Nittany Lions. He finished his collegiate career with 11 passes defended and five interceptions, with only one touchdown surrendered. He earned second-team All-American honors in 2021 while finishing first-team All-Big Ten. He was also Third-Team All-Big Ten in 2020.

Strengths

·         Highly instinctive with a good football IQ

·         Very nice size for a safety ( 6’1 199)

·         Versatile player that lined up all over the defense for Penn St.

·         ( 433 snaps in the box, 153 in the slot, 165 deep, 7 on the boundary)

·         Physical player that excels when in the box

·         Showed good speed ( 4.49 at combine) and range when playing center field.

·         Has ability to cover TEs one on one 

·         Very competitive and aggressive player that’s not scared to take on a 300lb pulling guard. 

·         Seems to be a good leader and communicator on the back end. 

·         Only allowed 1 TD in 962 coverage snaps

·         Very strong ( owns Penn St DB record by bench pressing 355 six times)

Weaknesses

·         Although he’s a heat seeking missile on most plays he sometimes takes poor angles on some of his tackle attempts. 

·         Like a lot of young secondary players he needs to improve his open field tackling. 

·         Can be overly aggressive some times and takes himself out of plays 

·         A little bit of an older prospect ( will be 23 on draft day)

Fit with the Packers:

Packers could always use more versatile pieces in Joe Barry’s defensive puzzle and versatility is the name of of the game for Brisker.  Brisker’s versatility would allow the Packers to use Savage more in the star position which many have said would be the best fit for him.  Savage is also a 2023 free agent and adding a talent like Brisker could soften that potential blow next season. Brisker could be used to cover the opposing teams TE one on one, a position that has become a premium position in todays NFL. Brisker also played on contributed on special teams for the Nittany Lions playing mostly of their field goal block unit. His athletic ability and competitiveness could really help a new look Packers special teams as well.
