Texans to Audition Pass-Rushers
By admin
After losing defensive end Conner Barwin for the season to a dislocated ankle, the Houston Texans will be working out pass-rushing defensive ends this week.
"Anybody who's out there as a free agent is a possibility," head coach Gary Kubiak said on Monday.
When asked about the possibility of signing Aaron Schobel, Kubiak said "My understanding is he's retired."
After being released by the Buffalo Bills, Schobel announced his intention to retire. It's unclear whether or not the 33-year old has filed his retirement papers with the NFL, he will be linked to any NFL team looking for a 4-3 pass-rushing end.
The Texans are believed to be a natural fit, as former Bills defensive line coach Bill Kollar now coaches the Texans defensive line, and Schobel is a native of Harris County, Texas, maintaining his off-season residence an hour or so outside of Houston.
Schobel (6-4, 243) had 78 career sacks over his nine-year career with the Buffalo Bills, including 10 sacks in 16 games last season.
