Unsigned RFAs Jackson, Mankins Establish Reporting Dates
By admin
ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports that unsigned restricted free agents Vincent Jackson and guard Logan Mankins have established reporting dates for the 2010 season.
According to Mortensen, Mankins will report to the New England Patriots on November 16. Doing so would give him the six games required to accrued a season towards unrestricted free agency.
Jackson will report to the San Diego Chargers on October 31. By rule, Jackson needs to sit out three games, which will keep him out for games against the Tennessee Titans, Houston Texans, and Denver Broncos, before he's eligible to return for the final six weeks of the season, gaining an accredited season.
The Chargers have a bye week between the Houston and Denver game, but Jackson will only lose three game-checks.
Under Article XXXII, Section 4(c)(iv) of the collective bargaining agreement, any player placed on the roster exempt list "shall be entitled to full compensation from his Club for any week in which his Club has a “bye” after the date he reports, but while he is still on the roster exempt list. Thus, any such player may not lose more than three (3) weeks of salary as a result of being placed on the roster exempt list."
